The difference between managers and leaders.

MBA produces managers. Managers do operational tasks. Leaders on the other hand look at the larger picture. They decide what task has to be done and in what order..

Knowledge comes from analysis. Managers are good at analysis
Wisdom comes from synthesis. Leaders are good at synthesis.
So, Where are the leaders?
Dipak Jain INSEAD's new dean states, managers work at the analysis plane, they are comfortable being in that plane, where as a leaders works at a knowledge plane. They seek new information, process that information and bring forth new ideas, new process.
To become a leader, the first step is to have exposure. Expose yourself to new experiences. Gather knowledge from books, people and organizations. Next process them, weigh the options, then plan your actions step by step. The final step is to get people to execute them. The people whom you get to execute your plan will be managers.
